Comments:
Jane Wiedlin and Noa, Brantome-en-Perigord, France, May 1997
Jane's comments: "Fallen" was written at Miles Copeland's castle in France. At the time I wanted to write something for Veruca Salt, one of my favorite bands.

I sent it to them and also to Kiss, either of those bands would have been perfect to record this "tried to be good but it just didn't last" song.

It was a challenge making it my own, as the original demo was much more "hard rock" than I am personally!

(Also see comments for the Go-Go's song "Here You Are").
Review:
Tom Demalon, All Music Guide

After a five-year hiatus, Jane Wiedlin returned with Kissproof World on her own label, producing the record as well. There's real chemistry among her backing band, which includes guitarists Luke Tierney (of Silverjet) and Frank Agnew (of the Adolescents) and Wiedlin's little-girl voice reveals more maturity, noticeably on ballads like "The Good Wife" and "He's Not Talking." The latter song is a moody, dreamy duet with Matthew Sweet. Kissproof World draws on Wiedlin's past with the unbridled "Die Now! Pay Later!" and the punchy, singalong title track. There are also a few inspired touches like the use of the Bulgarian Women's Choir during the bridge of "Icicle" and the Middle Eastern-flavored "Feeling Like Flying." Lyrically, Kissproof World has a very personal feel: sometimes amusing ("Fallen"), sometimes somber ("The Good Wife." Kissproof World is some of Wiedlin's best and most engaging work.
Lyrics: Perfect for so long
Yeah I was so strong
Playing it straight and true
Walking the narrow
Then came the arrow
Completely out of the blue

And I never dreamed I'd blow it
But I've hit the wall
So many years I thought I knew it all

Right off the wagon
Chasin' the dragon
Over the edge
I've fallen

Under the wire
Into the Fire
Burnin' my bridges
Fallen

How are you feeling
Now that I'm reeling
What is it like to be you
What were you thinking
What was I drinking
When you staged your little coup

And I never dreamed I'd mess up
But I've hit the wall
Why did I think I knew it all

Right off the wagon
Chasin' the dragon
Over the edge
I've fallen

Under the wire
Into the Fire
Burnin' my bridges
Fallen

Well I never dreamed I'd fuck up
Till I hit the wall
So many years I thought I knew it all

Good-bye the angel
Broken the halo
Right off the wagon
Chasing the dragon
Over the edge I've fallen

Under the wire
Into the Fire
Burnin' my bridges
Fallen
