We recorded a demo in my home studio with David on piano and myself on bass and drums. David finished the lyrics a few weeks later in Los Angeles with Randy Goodrum. I've only met Anne Murray once ... at the vocal session in Toronto for "Now And Forever". She's a charming person, very pleasant, but I must say I was surprised to see her smoking a cigar! Elton John named Anne Murray one of his favourite singers, and John Lennon said that Anne's version of "You Won't See Me" was one of his favourite "covers" of a Beatle song. I couldn't agree more. I think Anne has an amazing voice. Even though it's more of a pop ballad, "Now And Forever" reached the top of the US Country Music chart in April 1986. Twenty years later the song continues to receive significant radio airplay. |
