Bryan Adams attended the 1980 Juno Award ceremony in Toronto as a nominee in the "Best New Artist" category (the award went to Walter Rossi, although Adams' career proved to be more enduring).

In addition to being nominated, Bryan was also asked to co-present the Best Female Vocalist award with Myles Goodwin (April Wine) and 15-year-old singer Freddie James.

Freddie was nominated in the Most Promising Male Vocalist category that year, which he didn't win ... however he did go home with the Single of the Year award for his song "Get Up and Boogie".
Lyrics: It's been a long time since I've been scramblin' down
On the wrong side of your love
And I don't care if you think I'm wasting my time
You're the only one I'm thinkin' of

Well I'm spent my whole life ramblin' 'round
From town to town and I need

Open soul surgery
Open soul surgery
Ya I need surgery
Open soul surgery

When you were 18 I took you from your mother and sister
Cuz you didn't need that kind of protection
Now I hate seein' you comin' on like some kinda bitch
Cuz your life ain't what you were expectin'

Well I'm spent my whole life ramblin' 'round
From town to town and I need

Open soul surgery
Open soul surgery
Ooh, I need surgery
Open soul surgery - ya

And now the pressure's on
I don't know right from wrong
I live in desperation

I can feel the heat
Now that I'm on the street
For what you've done to me
And I'm gonna need

Open soul surgery
Open soul surgery
Yeh I need surgery
Open soul surgery
